Isle of Wight
Paint and Roll

Isle of Wight Paint and Roll is a new tabletop gaming group for playing miniature games which only require a handful of miniatures while focusing on the creative and narrative aspects of the hobby.

We’ll be starting up very soon, with regular meetups to paint, chat and play games. If you’re interested sign up below—you’re welcome to join us regardless of your experience level.

When and where are the meetups?
We’ll decide this as a group, but the idea will be to keep it fair by using locations around the island, and also supporting various local businesses. We’ll have meetups for both painting/modelling and gaming.
What games do you play?
We’ll choose a new game every 6 months to focus on, voting as a group on what that is. The aim is to be more like a book club than a traditional games group; there’s always a theme tying everyone together. Games might include things like Frostgrave, Gaslands or Reign in Hell.
What’s different about this group?
The most popular games in this space are those made by Games Workshop, like Warhammer 40,000. Those games tend to require a high miniature count, encourage the use of specific miniatures and many groups playing them focus on competitive play. Here we focus on games that require fewer miniatures, have a strong sense of story and encourage the use of whatever miniatures spark your imagination. Kitbashing is encouraged!
Why a WhatsApp group?
The group will be to chat, share progress, plan games and generally encourage a sense of community. If you don’t want to use WhatsApp but want to be involved, email me and we’ll work something out.
I only like painting/gaming!
You’re still welcome to get involved! Paint and craft along with the theme, or play the games with paper models. You might find you start enjoying the rest of the hobby too, though…
